kid_on_cell_phoneSometimes you’ll get to an interview with some time to kill before actually going in. You might be tempted to pull out your cell phone and start playing a game, check your social media or answer a phone call. DO NOT DO THIS! Once you park your car at the place of the interview, be on your best behavior. Your first impression starts with the receptionist. You don’t want to be on your cell phone and have to look down at it and stop what you’re doing when the potential employer comes to meet you.

Just sit tight and be patient. Strike up a small conversation with the receptionist to show a lighter side of your personality. Or read a magazine if they have them provided. Or do nothing! Remember, your interview starts before you even meet the interviewer. You never know who is watching you.

Most people agree that there should be one more day before Mondays, right? I wanted to share these tips for organization from Business Insider while searching for a new job. http://www.businessinsider.com/4-tips-for-organizing-your-job-search-2014-9

Regardless of whether or not you are working while searching for a new job, it is hard to stay organized and remember everything that you have come across. It is important to keep track of your every move so you are prepared when you get a call back. The last thing you want to say when someone calls you back for an interview is ask who they are and which position it is for. Stay on top of your search and continue to be hungry no matter how long it takes!

Happy Tuesday, everyone! Here we are in another odd week as the new year hits! With this said, jobs are streaming in and we want to help you find them.

When interviewing for a job, be prepared! You would be surprised at how many people overlook things that can take them out of the running. Potential employers will watch your every move if you are trying to work for them.

  • Bring more than one copy of your resume.
  • Have questions. You want to come across enthusiastic and eager to learn.acting-resume-sample-1
  • Know your resume. You shouldn’t have to think back about a year or a bullet point about yourself.
  • Study the company! It’s okay to give them a compliment on something they have accomplished.

These are just some basic things to remember when meeting your potential boss 🙂 Good luck!

As the holidays come to a slow, new year resolutions pick up. After a couple of months that are dedicated to giving, now it is time for some selfishness. Of course this selfishness must happen in a positive way. Maybe you don’t believe in the “new year, new you” hoopla and have tried and failed to achieve many resolutions in the past. Think of it more as a reminder that there is always time for change. Anything you did in 2014 that you aren’t proud of is now in the past. Anything you did in 2014 that you are proud of is clinging on to you in hopes of carrying on over to the new year.

Let 2015 be a clean slate, a fork in the road, a turning point for you. If you’ve been meaning to take that leap of faith, do it. If you keep telling yourself you’ll start that one thing tomorrow, do it today. Hate your job? Get a new one! Can’t land a job? Find help. You have about one more week to contemplate what it is that has been holding you back. We wish you luck and are always here to help.
